Worked all Postcodes 2006
The heat (and the linear!) is about to be turned up again beginning 1st March when SDARC members begin to compete for this Year's Members Operating Award, presented to the members who have worked the greatest number of stations on any band and using any mode but in a pre-defined geographical category that varies from year to year.
Over the past two years SDARC members have risen to the challenge and taken part in two very popular Members Operating Awards... The 2004 "Worked all Britain" (Squares) Award and the 2005 "Worked All Counties" Award. Both were hotly fought over and created a buzz around the clubroom as members totals varied from week to week. The 2006 Members Operating Award is based on Postcodes and will be awarded to the members who work the greatest number of different postode locations. Since there are 117 (119? - ed)of these 'sorting area' codes (eg SN), there will be a serious number of QSOs to make and techniques employed to work some of what will turn out to be the more 'exotic' codes will be eagerly watched!
The operating period follows the pattern established over the past two years with the Award being divided into three separate categories. The first runs from the beginning of March to the end of May. There is a 'rest period' in June, July and August to allow for YLs, harmonics - and of course, the VHF Contest season (!!) and the Award begins anew in September through to the end of November. A Members Operating Award is presented to a separate winner for each of the 3-month periods and a third Award is presented to the overall winner but the rules are designed such that no member can win more than one of these three categories.
So, what are you waiting for... pay your subs if you are not yet a member and get listening in readiness.... only days to go before we go QRV !
