Cap is probably rated at 50V. If you are using an swr meter you will know if it is burnt out! Cheaper having one of those than burning out the PA in your transceiver.
And yes it is 144.3....
What I mean by wobble is that I can wobble the pole coming from the top of the rotator a bit. When it's rotating it is fine but there is some play in the mechanism. The mechanism and the rotator itself all appear brand new. It's a Yamato YS-130 which gets good reviews on the interweb.

The little capacitor trimmer really is a little capacitor, such as you would find on a PCB of a transistor receiver. I think I will just remove it.

Inside the connection compartment is a little trimmer capacitor and the instructions say to turn it for maximum effect. I have tried this and it doesn't seem to effect reception at all. It also looks a bit fragile and damaged. Can I just get rid of it do you think? I am using 50-ohm feeder co-ax and no ATU.

I heard someone last night discussing electricity pylons and neon lamps and stuff VERY LOUDLY on FM whilst fiddling with this stuff last night so I guess it's working...
